  • CTA Facilitates First Colorado Legislative Tech Caucus Meeting of 2019 Legislative Session

On Thursday, February 28 Colorado Technology Association helped facilitate the first meeting of the Colorado Legislative Technology Caucus of the 2019 Legislative Session at the Colorado Capitol. The Legislative Technology Caucus provides an important venue for policymakers to hear from industry experts on various tech issues being discussed by the legislature.

This discussion focused on Broadband Network Principles and underlying issues in the open internet discussion. Two guest speakers presented: Ethan Jeans, Associate Attorney at Wilkinson Barker Knauer, LLP and Mike Spaulding, VP of Engineering at Comcast.

Ethan Jeans provided a high-level overview of the history of open internet regulations in the U.S., their legal underpinnings and the current playing field at the FCC, in the states, and in the courts. Mike Spaulding gave an engineer's overview of how a network works and is managed.

It was a great discussion on a timely issue and CTA looks forward to facilitating more great conversations around important tech issues at the Colorado Capitol.
