  • Member Post: The Tech Hub Between the Coasts

If you live in Colorado, you wake up every morning in one of the most beautiful places on the planet! From the allure of our amazing Rocky Mountain ski slopes to the very active culture, it has something to offer everyone. It’s always sunny, has a great sports atmosphere, and houses one of the best concert venues in the world. Now this one is near and dear to my heart since I am a rocker myself as a singer in the CenturyLink band! People just continue to flock to this state, and for good reason. I myself made the move in 2016 from Ohio to take on a new role in what was Level 3 Communications’ corporate headquarters. It has been one of the best decisions I ever made!

But this is not just happening for those looking to adopt a Colorado lifestyle, it’s happening with organizations from all over the U.S, from startups to the major technology corporations.  The Colorado Technology Association has dubbed Colorado, “The Tech Hub between the Coasts” with nearly 11,000 technology companies in Colorado including major corporations Arrow Electronics, DaVita, DISH Network, Molson Coors Brewery, and of course, CenturyLink. Our strategic location inland in the US, midway between all coasts, with growing infrastructure and desirable lifestyle and cost of living, attract not only companies to our area but also high-tech workers to drive innovation and speed of technology. Colorado is headquarters to 10 Fortune 500 Companies & 16 Fortune 1,000 companies. With digital technology companies launching all over the state, their desire to innovate and collaborate, and with support from groups like the CTA, it’s easy to see why we’re the center of innovation and transformation activity.

    CenturyLink’s Love for Colorado

CenturyLink is proud to play a central role in that dynamism. CenturyLink was already a fixture in this state with the acquisition of Qwest Communications in 2011 and further solidified this state as our “home away from home” in 2017 with the acquisition of Level 3 Communications. Many of our executive leaders at CenturyLink call Colorado home and enjoy helping to drive customer solutions to meet the needs of our ever-changing digital world.

     Today, CenturyLink boasts:

    • Nearly 1.6 Million connections statewide
    • More than $688 Million in annual salaries
    • Total network investment more than $12 Billion
    • Annualized more than $434 Million in investments
    • Nearly 8000 employees statewide
    • More than 80,000 fiber route miles

Nationally, CenturyLink has been recognized as the top SIP Provider in North America by IHS Markit for the past 3 years and are also ranked #1 in Ethernet market providers by the Vertical Systems Group. Locally,  we want to be recognized as a trusted community partner in Colorado through our strategic community investments. Our mission is to leverage our time, talents and treasure to invest in and create long-term positive impact in the communities we serve. We proudly support the Special Olympics Colorado, A Precious Child, the Denver’s Children’s Home (the oldest nonprofit in Colorado), Mile High United Way and the local food banks, among many other nonprofit partners.

    The Future Calls

Colorado provided the climate, the people and the inspiration for CenturyLink’s transformation from a telecommunications company to a broad technology leader on a global scale. Our portfolio includes Adaptive Network technology, Connected Security and Agile IT services from cloud computing to an array of managed services and professional consulting for a variety of industries. We help build Colorado’s high-technology infrastructure every day. And what we do here – with thousands of Coloradoans in our workforce – will help shape the future. So, it’s the past and present – but especially the future of Colorado’s technology industry that we’ll celebrate on March 14th. CenturyLink is proud to be the presenting sponsor of this year’s C-Level @ A Mile High, Colorado Technology Association’s largest fundraiser. I’d like to personally invite you to meet me and many other tech C-Level Celebrities at C-Level @ A Mile High on March 14th at Broncos Stadium at Mile High.

I hope to see you there!
